Module Feedback

Filed under: Feedback request — Rowland @ 10:23 am

It would be helpful for me if you can give me some feedback about the use of web based technology in this module.

Would you please comment on how useful the following have been in helping you to learn:

  • the module web site;
  • the module blog (this blog);
  • the module wiki;

Would you also add any ideas you might have to make these technologies more useful in helping you to learn.

Than you for your help

Your assignment update [Sessions 10 & 11]

Filed under: Feedback request — Rowland @ 10:09 am

You are asked to outline how far you are with your assignment so far.

Comment on this post to say how much you have done so far.

For example you might answer the following questions:

  • Who are your identified "audiences"?
  • What are the characteristics of these that make "their site" different?
  • What technologies do you intend using in your assignment and why?

These are only examples and you can say what you like as long as you give an update.

You might also get some ideas by looking at the outline of session 11 or you might want to refer back to previous messages on the blog.

In this activity you will adapt your own web page to add a table of contents by adapting XSLT stylesheet.

To do this you will:

  • make a copy of your original XML file and change the stylesheet reference to a new one;
  • modify XSLT stylesheet to display a table of contents and save it under the new name;
  • modify it again to produce the anchors in the text;
  • modify your XML file to ensure that the technique works with additional content;
  • comment on this blog post to say what you have learned;

Session 09: Activity 1 – XSLT and XHTML – Headers and Footers

  • writing a simple XHTML page like mine;
  • converting it to XML by changing the file extension and some of the headers;
  • setting up a simple XSLT stylesheet which will display it;
  • adding a header and footer to your page;
  • commenting on this post to say what you learnt from doing this activity;

Preparing for your assignment

Filed under: Activity, Feedback request — Rowland @ 10:47 am

Please comment on this post by giving the following information about your assignment for this module:

  • the three “audiences” you are going to have for your web site;
  • the characteristics of these audiences that will affect the design of your site;
  • an of outline the three different designs that you will need;
  • an explanation of why they must be designed that way;

These need only be rough ideas at this stage but I need the information so that I can judge that your ideas have the potential to achieve at least a pass grade in the assignment.
